Earthworks and Roadworks – Cut 3 Area

Cut 3 area commences to the east of the Dooneen Marsh in the town land of Bawnfune and extends over a distance of 0.9 km to the existing Old Kilmeaden Road. (Chainage 3,800 to 4,700m). The material was excavated using mechanical means and rock blasting with the average depth of dig being 12.0m. Similar to Cut 2 area, the excavated material was used as either ‘general fill’ or was stockpiled, crushed and graded for the production of ‘Cement Bound Grannular Material (CBGM) which is being used as part of the road pavement construction.
