Discover Birds on your doorstep at Ardkeen Library during August. Garden Bird Detectives is an exhibition about Waterford City’s waterways and garden birds based on Birdwatch Ireland's annual garden bird survey.

Waterford City Council Library Service is joining the celebrations with National Heritage Week 2010 by providing a varied and in-depth look at family history and local heritage.
Central Library, Ardkeen Library and Brown’s Road Library will host a selection of events from August 21st – August 29th and all are free.
Events at Ardkeen Library:
The Ancient Art of Paper Making and Book Craft
Morning session: Making decorative paper by hand including marble paper
Afternoon session: Making foldout butterfly books and hand stitched pamphlets
Saturday August 21st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Booking essential.
Introduction and guide to online Local History Resources
Friday August 27th from 10.15 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Saturday August 28th from 3.15 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Language Exchanges
The French – English Language Exchange meets on the first and third Thursday of every month at 6.30pm.

Reading Zone
The Children’s Book Club at Ardkeen Library meets once a month on the second Thursday of every month from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.
The August meeting will be on Thursday 19th August. The books chosen for the August meeting are Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown and The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo.
Ardkeen Library’s Morning Book Club meets the first Friday of every month. New members always welcome.
Names are now being taken to form a New Evening Book Club and a Teenage Book Club. If interested in joining please leave your name at the library desk.

Red Triangle: “Tethered to Time”
Wednesday 4th- Saturday 21st August
Artists Magda Karol – Nowakowska, Ruth Flynn and Pat McArdle are Red Triangle.
Magda, Ruth and Pat are studying for a fine art honours degree in the Waterford Institute of Technology and have been working together as Red Triangle for about a year. This will be their first exhibition in Waterford. The group has previously exhibited in Dublin. Their work includes the use of inter and multi disciplinary approaches to art, using sculpture, painting and photography, while availing of the
creative opportunities inherent in each media. The exhibition will be launched on Wednesday 4th August at 6:00pm and runs until Saturday 21st August.

Anna Manahan Remembered
Friday 27th August – Thursday 30th September
Waterford native and leading Irish actress Anna Manahan will be honoured by this special exhibition to acknowledge her lifelong contribution to Irish theatre. The exhibition is curated by Ellen Murphy, Senior Archivist at Dublin City Archives. The exhibition will be officially launched on Friday 27th August at 6pm, and runs until Thursday 30th September. A special evening to celebrate Anna Manahan will be held on Wednesday 29th September at 6:00pm.
