
Language Exchanges
The Italian – English Language Exchange started at Ardkeen Library on Thursday 4th February at 6.30pm. Future meetings will be the first Thursday of every month at 6.30pm with the exception of the March meeting which was on Thursday 25th February.

The French – English Language Exchange meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6.30pm.

Needles and Threads Needlework Group
Are you interested in needlework, if so then Needles and Threads, the needlework group at Ardkeen Library is
for you. The group meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 11.00am.

Stock from ‘The Store’!
Featured authors in Stock from ‘The Store’ for March are Irish authors Brian Cleeve, Thomas Kilroy, Mary Leland, Kate O'Brien and Maurice Walsh. Stock from ‘The Store’ is a display of books from the library’s backstock. Suggestions for authors are more than welcome and if you would like to suggest an author please let the staff know.
World Book Day 4th March
Book Clubs Tea Party
At the annual Book Clubs Tea Party, author Ellen McCarthy will read from her new novel Silent Crossing. On the night Ellen will also launch the new online Waterford Book Club. The Tea Party will be on Thursday 4th March at 6.30pm at Ardkeen Library. All book club or budding members are invited to come along.
Join the Children’s Book Club at Ardkeen Library. The club meet once a month and the next meeting will be on Thursday 4th March from 3.30pm – 4.30pm. The books being read for the March meeting are The Boss by Michael Smith and Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. Both books are available from the library desk at Ardkeen Library.

Film Night – Radio Days
Radio Days, directed by Woody Allen will be shown at Ardkeen Library on Tuesday 9th March at 6.00pm.

Language Exchange – Try and Taste Evening
Thursday 11th March will be a celebration evening for all the participants of the language exchanges at Ardkeen Library. If you are interested in joining the French, Italian or Spanish exchanges or in any other languages please come along on the evening. The celebration begins at 6.00pm.

Liam Farrell will tell his stories and talk about his characters Goldilocks and the Big Bad Wolf at Ardkeen Library on Friday 12th March at 10.00am.

Calling all children, come along to any branch of Waterford City Council Library Service during Seachtain na Gaeilge and take part in our library Scavenger Hunt. There will be prizes for the winners and a special prize for any child that joins the library during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Central Library will host an exhibition of illustrated books created by 3rd Year Design students from the Visual Communications Department, W.I.T. from Wednesday 3rd March until Saturday 20th
March. The books will be exhibited on the glass walkway, on the second floor of Central Library. The Launch will take place on Wednesday 3rd March at 6:30pm

Language Exchange Evening

Do you have a language to share? Are you interested in brushing up on your language skills? If the answers are yes and you would like to meet like minded linguists then the Central Library Language Exchange is looking for you! The exchanges will be free and will take place in the languages with the most demand. Exhibition by Waterford Social Befriending

Waterford Social Befriending will hold an exhibition in Central Library from Saturday 27th March – Saturday 10th April. The exhibition will provide information about support structures for those experiencing mental health issues, such as services and organisations to contact.
Adult Education Centre Art and Craft Exhibition

Central Library is delighted to welcome back the students from the Adult Education Centre in Durand’s Court for their annual group show at the Index Gallery. The Mayor will open the exhibition on Tuesday 23rd March at 2:30pm and the exhibition will run until Thursday 25th March. All are welcome.

Central Library will host an afternoon of poetry on Friday 19th March from 3:00pm. Poet Michael Coady will read from his latest work: Going By Water. John W. Sexton will read from two collections, Petit Mal and Vortex. The Central Library Poetry Circle will read poetry inspired by an exhibition of aerial photographs of Waterford City.
Admission is free and all are welcome.

Afternoon of Reading

Readers of different genres will be able to listen to five different authors reading from and discussing their work in Central Library on Saturday 20th March from 3:00pm. Featuring:
Christine Dwyer Hickey, is the award-winning author of a number of novels including Last Train from Liguria
Arlene Hunt is the author of a popular crime series including False Intentions, Black Sheep, Missing Presumed Dead and Undertow.
Roisin Meaney, author of children and adults novels is the writer of Half Seven on a Thursday and seven other titles.
Pauline McLynn is the creator of the character of private eye Leo Street and has written four other titles. Currently playing a Librarian in Channel 4 drama: “Shameless”.
Mary O'Donnell, award-winning poet, short story writer and novelist will read from her work, The Ark Builders.
Admission is free, all are welcome.
