The Local Studies Department holds a full collection of Decies: The Journal of the Waterford Archaeological and Historical Society. During 2008 Irish Origins Research Agency were commissioned to compile an index to all of the journal articles in the collection. The Decies began in 1976, (when the society was known as the Old Waterford Society) and the journal continues to be published on an annual basis.

The Decies journal contains a great variety of historical, archaeological, geographic and social information about Waterford City and County and the index makes the published results of the extensive research of the members of the Society more accessible to a wider audience.
