The availability of free public Internet access complements and extends the Information and Reference Services of Waterford City Council Library Service.

Users must be aware that the World Wide Web is an unregulated information network, enabling access to ideas, information and images. Users are required to be responsible in their use of the World Wide Web.

Waterford City Council Library Service cannot guarantee the accuracy of information on the World Wide Web, nor can they accept responsibility for, or supervise content that may be accessed inadvertently or otherwise by a user. The Library accepts no responsibility for damage, loss, costs or expenses arising either directly or indirectly from use of the Library’s free Internet-based computer services.

All users are required to read and indicate their compliance with the Library’s Free Internet Access Acceptable Use Policy below before using the service.

Free Internet Access Acceptable Use Policy:
- Access to the Internet is available to all current registered Waterford City Council Library Service members
Internet sessions may be pre booked in advance
- Bookings may only be made for one session per day. Subject to availability, it may be possible to avail of a further non-consecutive session
- Bookings not taken up within 10 minutes will be forfeited
- Members of the library must present their library card when booking a session. They will then be assigned an Internet PC
- Each session will last no more than 50 minutes. (30 minutes for children)
- Users are automatically logged off at the end of a session. A message to this effect is sent 10 minutes, 5 minutes and 1 minute respectively before the session ends.
- Children under the age of 12 are welcome to use the Internet, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Young people aged between 12 and 16 may use the Internet unaccompanied, provided a parent or guardian has authorised such use in writing.
- Users may not create, access store, transmit, download or publish any material. That is pornographic, obscene, racist, defamatory, illegal or of a sexual nature. That causes harassment or gross offence to others. That constitutes a breech of copyright laws or licensing agreements.
- Users should be aware that filtering software has been installed on all PCs. The use of chat room facilities is not permitted. Library staff monitor Internet usage at all times.

Users who fail to observe the above conditions will immediately be logged out and denied access to Internet facilities.
