The staff in the Housing Loans Office provide administrative assistance to
person wishing to become home owners.
Aside from the Affordable Housing Scheme, finance may be arranged for approved applicants through the Local Authority House Purchase Loan or under the Shared Ownership Scheme. The Mortgage Allowance Scheme is also administered in Housing Loans.
House Purchase Loan
If you
wish to purchase a house (new or second-hand) in the ordinary way
or to build a house but you cannot get a loan to meet your requirements
from a building society, bank etc. you may be eligible for a loan
from Waterford City Council. ..more infomation here...In order to qualify you must meet
an income eligibility test which takes into account the incomes
of the principal, and any second, earner in the household. The
maximum house purchase loan available is €185,000. The interest
rate on loans is variable, in line with the typical lending institution
