The Environment
Department has responsibility for a wide range of areas including the wheeled
bin separate refuse collection. We also maintain the following
areas :
- Our Litter Wardens help to prevent and control litter, illegal dumping and illegal burning.
- We run initiatives to increase awareness of the importance of the environment, including school visits.
- The Cleansing Department cleans our city by sweeping the streets, etc.
- We run Kilbarry Landfill and Civic Amenity Site. See our Christmas opening arrangements for 2009 here.
- We operate the Dog Pound in partnership with Waterford
County Council
- Adopted bye-laws for collection of household waste for 2008 and Advert.
