Disposal of Bulky Goods

Waterford City Council, as part of its commitment to securing best environmental management of all waste, operates a collection system for white and bulky goods. This service is intended for householders who wish to dispose of individual household items.

How does the collection system work ?
  • Householders may contact the Environment section to request collection by telephoning 051-849563.
  • Household items will be collected, by arrangement, from the householder at their home address by an employee of the Council.

  • Payment is by way of multiples of €4.00 / €8.00 wheelie bin tags, at point of collection.
  • All White Goods (anything electrical) can be dropped off at the Recycling Centre, free of charge.

NOTE : Special arrangements will be made for householders currently in receipt of a waiver of domestic (Wheeled Bin) Charges.

Collection charges will apply as follows :
Small household items - e.g. Microwave, Radiator  [ € 16 ]
Medium household items - e.g. Matress, Tumble Dryer  [ € 24 ]
Large household items - e.g. 3 piece suite, Wardrobe  [ € 32 ]

Members of the public are reminded that if they employ a private contractor to dispose of their waste, they should ensure that he/she is in possession of a current Waste Collection Permit.

Contact the Environment Section for further details. It is an offence punishable in law to transfer waste to a person who does not hold such a permit.
