This system allows access to online planning information. Files on this system are approximately 7 days behind the paper files in the Council's office.

Click the “Planning Enquiries” button to begin. When you identify a file you wish to view, you can examine the documents and maps etc. submitted. If the file has been finalised, you will be able to view the decision, conditions/reasons and reports. Alternatively you can use the Planning Map Search, which allows you to zoom into an area on a map and view all of the planning applications submitted for that location back to 1973.

Notes and Supplementary Information

New Applications - the process
On receipt of a new planning application, the application is validated for compliance with planning regulations and then the full application is scanned. Accordingly, new applications will not be available for viewing online for approx. 7 working days from date of receipt.

Viewing / Searching Applications online
The planning enquiries database allows you to search by Planning Number, Name, Location of Development and/or Application Date for all applications received since the beginning of 1973.  Please note that while every effort is made to ensure all information is accurate to within 7 working days, the Planning Authority cannot guarantee this at any particular point in time.

DjVu - Document Viewer Software
Search results will link you to the application details. You will also be able to view scanned documents, maps and drawings associated with all applications received from 1/1/2008 .  The first time you do this, you must download the DjVu (Document Viewer) Browser Plug-In.You will find a help button on screen to guide you through the process.  If you experience any difficulty in downloading this software, email your contact details to planning@waterfordcity.ie and you will receive a CD copy to upload to your PC.

Viewing older files
Applications received from 1/1/1997 are available for inspection and purchase in the Planning Office, Menapia Building,, The Mall, Waterford. Older files are held in our archives and a retrieval fee applies.
