Recruitment

The Human Resources Department is responsible for the recruitment, selection and appointment of all employees and ensures that Waterford City Council is adequately resourced with suitable staff to meet the needs of the organisation.

This is achieved through recruitment and promotion of suitable staff in line with best Human Resources practice.

• Most clerical, technical and professional grades are recruited under National Regulations, which prescribe recruitment procedures, qualifications.
• Recruitment is by way of competitive interview and/or examination.
• Senior posts at managerial and mrofessional levels are recruited through the Public Appointments service.

  Other grades such as Line Managers, Crafts, Operatives etc. are normally recruited by competitive interview arranged by the Human Resources Department.
