Housing Loans

The Housing Loans Office provides administrative assistance to persons wishing to become home owners, through the various schemes run by the City Council.

These include the Affordable Housing Scheme, the Local Authority House Purchase Loan scheme or the Shared Ownership Scheme.

House Purchase Loan
If you wish to purchase a house (new or second-hand) in the ordinary way or to build a house but you cannot get a loan to meet your requirements from a building society or bank etc. you may be eligible for a loan from Waterford City Council.

In order to qualify, you must meet an income eligibility test which takes into account the incomes of the principal, and any second earner in the household. The maximum house purchase loan available is €185,000. The interest rate on loans is variable, in line with the typical lending institution rate.
