Disabled Persons' Grant Scheme
(Housing Adaption Grant)
The "Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability Scheme" is available for disabled people in situations where changes need to be made to a home to make it suitable for a person with a physical or intellectual disability or a mentally ill person.
All contacts are treated with the strictest confidence. The maximum grant of €30,000 is limited to households with an income of €30,000 per annum, tapering to 30% grant for those with an annual household income of between €54,001 to €65,000. This grant covers work such as access ramps, stair lifts, installation of downstairs toilet facilities, accessible bathrooms and extensions.
The "Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme" aims to address mobility problems. The grant is limited to households with a maximum income of €30,000 or less, and covers such as level access showers, ramps, grab rails, stair lifts and other minor works. The maximum grant available is €6,000.
The "Housing Aid for Older People Grant Scheme" assists older people living in poor housing conditions to have essential repairs or improvements carried out. The maximum grant of €10,500 is limited to households with an income of €30,000, tapering to 30% grant for those with an annual household income of between €54,001 to €65,000 and covers structural repairs, rewiring, replacement of doors and windows, provision of water and sanitary services and other repair/improvement work which are considered essential.
