Water Safety

Waterford City Council promotes water safety awareness through its involvement with the Waterford Water Safety Area Committee and with Irish Water Safety.

Responsibility for promoting water safety rests with the City Council’s Water Safety Development Officer (WSDO), Lisa Grant.

The WSDO also has responsibility for maintaining life buoys on the Quays and the Tramore Road River Walkway.

These lifebuoys are in place so that they can be used by the public to effect a non-contact rescue.  Unfortunately each year a substantial number of these lifebuoys go missing endangering people’s lives.

If you notice a missing lifebuoy, please report it to the Water Safety Development Officer on 051-849709 or by emailing lgrant@waterfordcity.ie
