Recommendation for Minimum Criteria of Environmental Inspections

In 2001, the European Parliament and Council made a recommendation to provide for the setting of minimum inspection criteria for environmental inspections in EU member states.

The purpose of the recommendation is to strengthen compliance with and contribute to, a more consistent implementation and enforcement of EU environmental law.

Waterford City Council has the responsibility for regulating industrial and other enterprises subject to authorisation, permitting or licensing under EU Law. We will undertake their inspection duties in accordance with the recommendation.
