Information on the BROWN wheelie bin

The BROWN BIN is for any food or garden waste. Waste used to make compost. Each bin is collected on a three week rotation.

Food can be wrapped in sheets of newspaper. Alternatively, you can use Biobag, Greensax or Composac brand compostable bags - no other brands have been found to be suitable at our compost facility.

Please do not put any plastic bags in this bin, as it gets caught in the machinery during composting. If just a few bins are contaminated in this way, the entire refuse truck has to go to landfill, increasing costs.
