Social Inclusion

The Social Inclusion Unit was established in 2002 and is part funded by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

The role of the Social Inclusion Unit is primarily to establish the facts, identify baseline data on the extent, nature and causes of poverty in the City to inform policy development and to promote social inclusion in the local authority.

The Social Inclusion Unit also supports the work of Waterford City Development Board and the Social Inclusion Measures Committee and liaises with agencies involved in social inclusion to ensure a co-ordinated approach is undertaken in Waterford City.
