Mayor of Waterford

As Mayor of Waterford I take great pleasure in welcoming you to Waterford City Council's revamped website.

The City Council is the municipal authority for Waterford city; a city founded in 914 and developed into a significant urban area during the tenth century.  It is arguably the oldest area of continuous urban settlement in Ireland.

Providing the services and infrastructure of a modern city in this context is a substantial challenge but it's a challenge I believe Waterford City Council has accepted with enthusiasm and determination. This is particularly evidenced in the adoption of the Waterford City Development Plan 2007-2013 which sets the course for the future development of the City.

On this website, you will find details of our core services of housing, transportation, water services, environment, planning, sustainable development, community & enterprise, as well as a host of information about the working of this council.

I hope this site will be informative to the people of Waterford and will also give those living outside Ireland a flavour of this ancient walled city. We are anxious to provide the information that you need and all suggestions are welcome. I would be delighted to hear from you.
