About Waterford City Council
Waterford is one of the oldest cities in Ireland and its council, comprising of Mayor and Council is, along with Dublin and London, one of the oldest civic institutions in Western Europe.
Waterford City Council has 15 elected members called councillors.
A Mayor
is elected each year and chairs all Council Meetings.
The current mayor is Cllr. John Halligan.
