Strongly axial in its composition and design, the William Vincent Wallace "Millennium" plaza comprises of three functional components: a tall sculptural element terminating the quays, a timber boardwalk linking into the existing marina and a covered performance area.
The intent is to make the plaza visually interesting even during inclement
weather, and also maintain an open view down the river. A strong maritime
feel has been encorporated into the design of all the elements from the
sail like canopy to the detailing of seats, lights and railings.
A boardwalk wraps around the external edge of the wharf and links
into the marina.

The focal element of the plaza - the tall, slender sculpture - terminates the quays and provides an elegant counterpoint to Reginald's Tower . The sculpture will also be visible as a beacon to ships and yachts arriving at the city. The sculpture, the bow structure and the shields in the convered performance area invoke images of a Viking long boat.
Viewed from across the river, the plaza echoes the spires and other taller vertical elements in the city. All in all we hope the William Vincent Wallace "Millennium" Plaza gives a nautical flavour that echos the masts and sailing ships that once frequented this port.
