A previously unknown 1830 map of the city by William Sinnott has
recently been donated to the Archives by Kevin, David & Robin
Cahill, Bishopsgrove, Ferrybank. The map has been in the family
for several generations. Sinnott was a surveyor who worked in
the South-East of Ireland in the early decades of the nineteenth
century.
Some examples of his work are in the National Library, but this is the first time his work has turned up in Waterford. The map is large, in good condition, done in water-colours and includes a reference table for 132 named premises and streets around the city.
