In recent times some significant new collections have been acquired by the City Archives, including a previously unknown map of Waterford.
From the beginning it was intended that Waterford City Archives would be a true city archives rather than just a repository for city government records and that its collections would reflect all aspects of life in the city over the centuries. In the last 6 years a substantial number of institutional and private collections have been accessioned and the City Archives continues to find, record and, if possible, acquire further material.

Maternity Hospital Records
Waterford Maternity and Lying-In Hospital was founded in 1834
to provide free maternity and post-natal care for the poor of
Waterford City, both in hospital and through home visits. The

Quaker
Material
This small collection of 20 items was donated to the Archives
by Mrs. Edith Little, John's Hill and relate to her mother's family,
the Whites.

Unknown Map of Waterford City
A previously unknown 1830 map of the city by William Sinnott has
been donated to the Archives by The Cahill family, Ferrybank.
